It's been a while since you heard anything about The 30 Minutes Breather on this space and I can't be happier to bring you the very first 30 Minutes Breather interview with Maggie!
Maggie is currently in Mediacorp Channel 5's singing competition, The Final One and I thought this was perfect for The 30 Minutes Breather. Having always been an advocate for the pursuit of dreams, I was really proud of Maggie when she told me she's finally doing something with her amazing voice. With our heavy workload from school and her countless rehearsals/performance, there is definitely a need for a quick getaway to stay sane and if snuggling in bed is her 30 minutes breather, it could be yours too! Afterall, who wouldn't want to just snuggle until all the fuzz in our head disappears right?
More interviews will be posted on this space so do watch out for them :)
In the meantime, do check out Maggie's newest cover of Young Folks and vote for her (Just text 9 to 146071199) tomorrow at 9pm!
Design school schedule can be rather overwhelming.
3 hour classes doesn't sound like much to many but hey it's design; it never (and shouldn't) stays within class time. The need and desire to do better than you ever had gets under your skin. When you don't, it crushes you to smithereens but when you finally man-up and push forward, the results are so gratifying that it leaves you exhilarated and high for a while.
Much like what drugs do for some people I guess.
I think it's quite safe to say this the drug for me and as cheesy as this is, I'm fucking hooked.
That was for my draping class where we had to design and sew a dress by draping it. Strangely moving away from the usual sporty, more masculine silhouette, I came up with fluid dress that billows absolutely beautifully in the wind. (If I may say so myself!)
A bunch of us went to the wild to shoot this dress 2 weeks ago and I can't thank them enough! I finally came around editing the images from our shoot and can finally show you guys. Let me know what you think! :)
It's definitely not easy to capture my smiley moments especially when I tend to break out in a series of awkward moves right after but the talented Gwen is absolutely fantastic at it.
I realise I've not shown any of my works since last year and I'm really glad to have something to show you now!
We were given the task to design and sew an evening wear. Bored with the cliche floor length satin gowns and incredibly inspired by DKNY S/S13, I decided to go with a sports wear inspired cocktail dress. After a few breakdowns and a very kind milkshake by the boss, this is what I came up with.
Let me know what you think.
Love, pixie
p.s. Thank you to everyone who help or listened to me when I was going through a difficult time. I love you all.
"I just wanna run away to a forest, plugged into my favorite playlist and wish with all my heart that the world will stay silent and be very very still."
One of my happiest moments these days was running through a nearby forest trail and taking a deep breathe of fresh air. There was just something about the cool air and dirt path that made me feel at ease. The route had led to a green field and I found myself lying in the grass, eyes shut from the glare of the sun and body unexpectedly comfy in the dew-peppered grass.
It's moments like this that gets me going for weeks.
It is most probably because it reminds me of being elsewhere. It's been too long since my last travel and I can't help but make silly- literal comparisons between the grass in Sydney and Singapore. The grass is always greener on the other side right?
Working with your baby niece and best friends under the 12 'o' clock sun can be quite a test of character and friendship. I wouldn't say I had quite passed the test because I was definitely upset for quite a bit when my jumpsuit didn't get a chance when the sun got too hot and the model too bored. I am however glad that there were good shots for Peggy and that I came up with a solution for myself. So here's one outtake for you!
Have a great week ahead and lemme know what you think of the new layout!
These few days have been packed with preparing my portfolio and working on a campaign at Saught. There have been plenty of shoots on alternate days and tons of planning to do so I thought I'd share some behind-the-scenes photos with you guys.
One of my school module required an evening wear and I would have shot myself if I designed floor length satin cliches. I went with my favorite sports wear inspired theme and created a cocktail dress. I was rather pleased with the results so I teamed up with the talented GwenJanelle and beautiful Eunice Annabel for the shoot. Of course, the bestie came in to help with the make up and honestly speaking, I'm pretty pleased with what we came up with.
Working on all these photoshoots made me realise that I do really enjoy the whole process of translating the abstract emotions in my head through directions and discussions with the model and photographer. Clipping clothes and flipping hair didn't feel like a chore and I was honestly quite happy doing it. I'm not sure what that means for now but I'm definitely excited to work on more shoots. AND SO.
please email me if you would like to collaborate on a shoot or sth. I love ideas.
